.......I was born in Germany, and educated in England. I feel so lucky to have grown up among the great art museums of Europe, because they contributed to my life-long passion for painting. After moving to Tucson, Arizona, I became interested in landscape painting, especially "plein air" technique and philosophy.
I've been privileged to study at the Scottsdale Artists School, the Jackson Hole Art Academy, the Loveland Academy, and the California Art Academy, among others. And I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with some of today’s masters of contemporary landscape painting - Matt Smith, Ralph Oberg, Jim Wilcox, Scott Christensen, Wayne Wolf, Tim Lawson, Ovanes Berberian, Curt Walters, Skip Wtcomb, George Strickland, Phil Starke, Hedi Moran.
.......As often as I can I paint outdoors, always finding inspiration in the quiet serenity and dazzling light of the great Sonoran desert. I love the awesome expanse of unspoiled Western landscapes, whether in my Tucson homeland, or in California, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico. I've come to have a relationship with these places by painting them. It's a way to commune more deeply with the life there. To me, painting is a "conversation", a way of speaking about, and with, the land.People have told me they feel like they can "walk into my paintings". There could be no higher compliment than that.
